The London Art Fair returned to the business design centre in Islington from 17-21st January. It celebrates it’s 30th anniversary this year and the show didn’t disappoint with a fantastic range of artists on show from new and emerging artists from around the world to better known and more established artists like Alan Davie RA who sadly passed away in 2014 with his bright colourful motifs being an important theme of his work for his whole career.
Art Contact has a tremendous affiliation with Alan Davie as, together with Limberhurst Press, we worked with him to produce a number of limited edition prints.
I met up with a friend, an installation artist from Italy now living in London – Rosa Migliardi who was helping Antonio Budetta of the Aria Art Gallery showing a wonderful collection of newly found old -photographic negatives which had been re-worked by the artist, Andrea Guastavino to create a new take on past memories. Interesting photographs – the old and new combination.
Bumped into Giles Baker Smith of GBS Gallery who I have known for over twenty five years, he was showing some very interesting work.
Also had a wonderful chat with Bob and Louise at Advance Graphics with new works displayed by Neil Canning. Lovely to see familiar faces in this ever changing Landscape of new start up companies and galleries.
The show was definitely a great place to catch up with friends and acquaintances in the art business.
