Inpex Corporation

Art Contact commissioned artwork to represent coral and geological patterns. Through the use of actual geological materials including pebble and sand solution, the artwork explores the natural patterns and organic ordering in our environment.

While, in the reception a large four panel Perspex artwork brings together imagery from Inpex project sites and oil rigs against a cityscape backdrop with architecture taken from four main locations worldwide where Inpex have offices. The second panel acknowledges the Japanese origins of the company, using complimentary images from London and Japan, of traditional architecture and sculpture against a backdrop of Mount Fuji and the cherry tree. The colours were considered to enhance and complement the existing design features.

For Inpex, the commissioned work lends a subtle reference to the corporation, who are continually developing and exploring oil and natural gas resources worldwide, whilst complementing the elegance of the walnut finishes throughout the office space.

Art Contact suggested re-framing pieces in the Inpex’s existing collection to be re-distributed around the offices. These pieces, which were in storage, have brightened up wall spaces within the general offices including the break out area.
